News : Immediate Loading
At the forefront of dentistry are ‘rapid treatments’ – taking patients from failing teeth to implants with crowns on, all at the same time – this is termed ‘Immediate Loading’ or ‘Teeth in a Day’. Many patients are seeking this type of treatment having seen it on popular television programmes.
While it has always been possible to offer temporary false teeth to patients so that they do not have to have gaps during treatment, this is often in the form of dentures, which are usually uncomfortable and rarely very good when eating. While dentures are unavoidable for some cases, there are also many cases where crowns can be placed onto implants straight away.
Treatments can range from replacement of a single tooth to total clearances and replacement of all of the teeth in both upper and lower jaws. Here we will show you a simple case whilst the next few newsletters will focus on larger cases.
This lady had a bridge of 3 teeth that she had not felt confident using for many years. Her referring dentist decided that implants were the best long term solution. The bridge and roots were carefully removed and 2 implants immediately placed under local anaesthetic. The surgical procedure takes 20-30 minutes. The more complex stage of making the bridge on the implants takes 45-60 minutes to get the ideal aesthetic result.

The art is in providing an aesthetic crown with ideal contours to mould the soft tissues, thereby preventing recession of the gums. The materials that we use are temporary abutments with flowable composite, Protemp acrylic and unfilled resin as a polished coat.
