I am a 59-year old man. Lack of dental care in my early years, botched care while working in Africa and a heavy bite had taken its toll on my teeth; it was likely that I would have to have dentures – which I could not accept – or go for expensive restoration. I went for the latter, although the sum involved was eye watering. I had three dental implants and the rest of work (the majority) was done by my specialist dentist back in Brighton. Altogether I spent £22k, of which but £8k went for the dental implants. Expensive, but very good results and, in the end, good value.
Guy Barwell and his colleague had a good analysis of my problems and explained this well. Guy has an effective manner with patients – full explanations, not patronising, very straight, not obsequious. He takes a lot of photographs and the patient can see these if s/he wishes to check progress.
The treatment at The Implant Centre took place over nine months. Appointments were always well organised and prompt. Liaison with my dentists was pretty good most of the time. Guy always seemed pleased to see me and interested in my progress.
Surgical procedures were always efficiently carried out. The Implant Centre has and uses a lot of resources in supporting the patient X-rays, for example, are state of the art.
What is the result like? Really good. The partnership between The Implant Centre and my dentist has worked well. Their approach was not just to fix a few teeth but to take an overall look at the dynamics in the mouth and fix everything that was needed. I have new large molars to take the pressure of the bite and beautiful teeth at the front to bite with and smile!
