Bill Schaeffer is qualified as both a dentist and a medical doctor. He has both a fellowship and a membership from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He is registered by the General Dental Council as a specialist in surgical dentistry. In 2001 he left a hospital-based surgical career to concentrate full-time on his particular interest of dental implants.
He has been placing dental implants since 1997 and is now both an accredited Instructor in the Bicon Dental Implant System and a member of the International Bicon Faculty.
With his extensive training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery he is particularly qualified both for the safe placement of dental implants and for the grafting procedures which are sometimes necessary. He enjoys passing this knowledge on to others and has lectured both in this country and abroad on the topic of dental implants.
Guy Barwell
BDS MBBS FDS RCS (Eng) BSc Hons
Guy Barwell qualified as a dentist and medical doctor from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital with distinctions. In 1993 he read Psychology with the focus of his degree as reducing dental anxiety.
He has had extensive training in hospital maxillofacial units in all aspects of head, neck & oral surgery. He was awarded a fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998. Guy is very experienced in all aspects of implant dentistry with particular focus on treatment planning, implant surgery & safe bone augmentation.
His postgraduate implant training includes the Certificate in Advanced Surgical and Prosthodontic Implantology from the Eastman Dental Institute, and the Bicon Institute in Boston USA.
To keep up to date with current techniques and developments Guy attends regular courses & lectures around the UK, Europe & America.
Dr Jonathan R Murphy
Specialist in Prosthodontics

After qualifying from Guys’ Hospital Jonathan undertook hospital appointments in oral surgery and restorative dentistry. This was followed by two years experience in general practice. During this time Jonathan passed MFDS before embarking on the prosthodontic monospeciality program at King’s College, London.
Jonathan was a Specialist Registrar in prosthodontics at King’s College for four years, obtaining an MRD and MClinDent in 2005. The training involved treatment planning and restoration of patients referred to the hospital by general practitioners for prosthodontic care. The treatment that he provided ranged from the placement and restoration of single tooth implants to cases involving multiple implants with the placement of fixed or removable prosthesis. Difficult partial and complete denture cases were also treated. Jonathan has developed a particular interest in full mouth rehabilitation cases. These were mainly due to tooth surface loss, where aesthetics were of great importance. He has been involved with undergraduate teaching of the final year students. Throughout his post graduate training Jonathan has continued to work as a part time associate in general practice.
To keep up to date with current techniques and advances Jonathan regularly attends conferences in Europe and America.
Tony qualified from Guys Hospital in 1989 and has been in private practice for the last 18 years.
He has been restoring implants since 1997 and is particularly interested in the aesthetic aspect of restorative dentistry.
In addition to his work at The Implant Centre, Tony is also lead dentist in a large practice in Sevenoaks and a keen rugby player.
Rishi Patel
BDS, MFDSRCS (Eng), MS
Rishi graduated from the University of Bristol Dental School in 2002. Following a year in general practice, he completed Senior House Officer posts in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Restorative dentistry at St. George’s Hospital in London and the University of Birmingham Children’s Hospital. During this period he completed the MFDS examination for the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
He undertook his graduate Prosthodontic training at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California. He completed his certificate of training and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Prosthodontics in 2008 and went on to complete a one year Surgical Fellowship in Implant Dentistry at Loma Linda.
As well as joining us at The Implant Centre, Rishi is also currently working in private practice in Wimpole Street in London and at 33 Beaumont Street, Oxford focusing on aesthetic, prosthodontic and implant dentistry.
He is an Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University College London, Eastman Dental Institute and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in California. He is actively involved in teaching postgraduate students and general dentists and pursuing ongoing research interests.
Dr Sally Rayment
BDS (Lond) MJDF (UK)
Sally qualified from Guy's, King's and St. Thomas' Dental School in July 2004. Since then she has worked in General Practice in the South East, obtaining her Membership of the Joint Dental Faculty in 2008.
Over the last 3 years Sally has been regularly involved in vocational training, for which she mentors and coaches new graduate dentists in practice after they have qualified. She is an active member of the Brighton BDA Section Committee which organises and holds lectures for all dentists and DCPs in the area.
Sally is particularly interested in restorative dentistry having completed her first implant restorative case in 2004 and is currently completing the final stage of The Surgical and Prosthodontic Certificate of Implant Dentistry at the Eastman in London.
In her spare time Sally enjoys reading and running.
Dr. Andrea Wraith
Anaesthetist
Andrea Wraith is qualified as a doctor and a dentist and has a master's degree in dental anaesthesia.
She has extensive experience in the provision of sedation for dental patients in the primary care setting and has also worked as a hospital based anaesthetist. She is Editor of the European Federation for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry, a council member of the Section of Anaesthesia of the Royal Society of Medicine and is an expert advisor on dental sedation to a number of Primary Care Trusts.
